Food Safety

Canadian Farms have always looked to produce safe food. During the past years it has become more important for producers to be able to demonstrate and verify their food safety practices.

The Potato On Farm Food Safety Program was developed as a collaborative effort between producers from across Canada. This development was lead by the CHC (Canadian Horticultural Council). The program has been accredited by CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency).

Southern Manitoba Potato Co. Ltd. markets all fresh potatoes through Peak of the Market, a grower owned marketing company. Peak is committed to Food Safety and has worked with all growers to ensure full compliance with the Federally Approved On Farm Food Safety Program.
